About Michael

Michael Brazzel is The Leadership and Diversity Coach™. He is a certified executive and co-active coach, mentor coach, diversity and organization development consultant, and author. He has a background as executive and manager in U.S. government agencies; economist; evaluation and policy analysis; and university professor-researcher.

Michael was a Charter member of the U.S. Senior Executive Service. He organized and managed five interdisciplinary, PhD-level organizations in different U.S. government agencies and departments and was Team Leader/Staff Member of the Reinventing Government Program in the Office of US Vice President Al Gore. Michael served as executive, manager, organization development and diversity consultant, and executive coach in the US government for 25 years.

Dr. Brazzel is a member of the Editorial Board of the OD Practitioner and is co-editor of NTL Handbook for Organization Development and Change: Principles, Practices, and Perspectives and Reading Book for Human Relations Training (8th edition, 1999) and author of more than 40 articles, reports, and papers.

Michael is Co-Steward of the NTL Institute’s Coaching Community of Practice, organizer of the “Coaches for Equality and Diversity” community — a virtual community of coaches and LinkedIn group on LinkedIn.com, and was co-founder and faculty member of the NTL Institute’s Diversity Leadership Certificate Program. He has held teaching and/or research positions with the American University, Cleveland State University, Harvard-MIT Joint Center for Urban Studies, Newton College, University of North Carolina, University of Missouri, and U.S. Air Force Academy.

Michael Brazzel is a member of the NTL Institute for Applied Behavioral Science, the Steering Committee for NTL’s Coaching Community of Practice, and past member of the NTL Board of Directors. He is an NTL coach and a member of the International Coach Federation (ICF), Organization Development Network, International Society of Diversity and Inclusion Professionals, Association for Conflict Resolution, Association for Psychological Type, Association for Social Economics, and Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics.

Dr. Brazzel has a master’s degree in organization and human resource development from American University/ NTL Institute and a Ph.D. in economics from Tulane University. He completed post-graduate certificate programs from the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland in the areas of organization and system development, working with groups, working with physical process, and international organization and system development. He completed the coaching certification program with the Coaches Training Institute (CTI) and the core Organization and Relationship Systems (ORSC) courses of CRR Global. He holds coaching credentials as Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC) from CTI and as Professional Certified Coach (PCC) from the International Coach Federation (ICF).
